Towing Checklist - Rules and Regulations

We all recognise that towing a trailer safely requires concentration and care. It also means paying special attention to make sure you stay within the law. There are a number of rules and regulations to be aware of:

ensure your trailer has the legally required numberplate, working indicators and lights
ensure that you have any legally required licence and third party insurance
check that your trailer and vehicle are sufficient to tow the weight of your boat
pad or cover with plastic any bits of the boat that stick out and may be a danger to others
drive within the lower speed limits that apply when towing
